This is my fourth time painting him, and for this piece, I began by toning the paper with blues and browns.
Only then did I decide that Cillian Murphy would be the subject to bring this background to life.
I used white gouache for highlights and a touch of neon red for the cigarette.
The minimalistic feel I believe goes with his subtle yet strong personality.
